A 20-mile stretch of Interstate 5 near Chehalis remained closed today as a backed-up creek spilled over the highway.
As of early this morning, there were no alternate routes around the I-5 closure between mileposts 68 and 88, and state transportation officials are asking drivers to stay away. [http://www.wsdot.wa.gov]
Regardless if I-5 is opened in time to travel on Saturday morning, there will be several people with basic needs on the roadways. In light of this, we feel it appropriate to reschedule the Edmonds Underwater Park shore dive day to Saturday, January 24th.
[Fri. 1/9/09 UPDATE: We understand I-5 has been or is about to be opened to passenger vehicles. We still believe it best to yeild the roadways to those in need and look forward to seeing everyone on the 24th.]
Tides and currents are just as favorable on the 24th with only a predicted 2' exchange during the planned dive times. Predicted current is a maximum of less than 0.5 knot continually slowing during the ebb until midday where the flood is almost nonexistent. Meet time (10am) and dive times (11am-3pm) will remain the same.
Please email us if you can join us on the 24th and thank you for your understanding! :)
